Phluph

Not a lot is known about Phluph. The guitarist Ben Blake, who wrote many of the songs, is still a working musician. Link to website of guitarist Ben Blake.
I've always loved their song "Dr. Mind" The cover of Dylan's "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train To Cry" has got them attention through the years. There is some nice organ and guitar work throughout the album. It's lively and psychedelic , very representative of the era.

They have a Facebook page and a Myspace page Phluph on Myspace. There isn't much on either.

A surprising piece of infomattion came out in 2018. A book was published called Buy Me, Boston Local Ads & Flyers 1960s - 1980s, Vol. 1 by Brian Coleman. This is a must have for Bostonians who care about the era musically and culturally. In that book there is an ad from Night Time Magazine announcing the opening of the Rat, the legendary punk club.

The Rathskellar used to have bands in the 1960's like Barry and the Remains and the Lost.
This ad is from 1974 and marks the beginning of the punk era. And who is the opening band? Phluph! Up until 2018 we never knew they still had some form of the band together in 1974. We would love to know that story.

Band members were: Benson Blake IV, Lee Dudley, John Pell and Joel Maisano.
